Gardening enthusiasts go green with TrueGrid permeable pavers
Greenhouses simply grow better with strong TrueGrid roots for stability, drainage, and mud control
Challenge
Taking your garden to the next level is an investment. And installing a greenhouse is a process of trowel and error. Whether buying a professionally-constructed greenhouse or building it yourself, preparing a proper base is critical. And constructing the right base to support it can be the harvest part. Or is it?
Greenhouse floors need excellent drainage. Gravel is a good choice, but standard gravel flooring can be unstable. Materials shift around with every step, creating uneven ground and a maintenance chore. A sturdy, yet permeable, base ensures your greenhouse is solid while promoting drainage.
Solution
Gravel, reinforced with TrueGrid permeable pavers, is a fool-proof base. The gravel becomes super-strong when contained by TrueGrid, so there’s no need to pour concrete or use timber to hold the weight of the greenhouse structure.
The greenhouse may be assembled directly on the pad. Installation of the greenhouse base is simple and saves thyme.
Options:
For an inset base, excavate 3-6” deep, lay landscape fabric, install base gravel, install TrueGrid permeable pavers level with the surrounding ground and fill with gravel, or
For an elevated look, build the base from the ground up. Frame out with railroad ties, steel or other solid edging. Install landscape fabric, add base gravel, snap TrueGrid into place and fill with gravel.
Get creative with your fill material - screened rock, basalt, decomposed granite, crushed limestone - whatever you want!
Result
The TrueGrid system drains excess water while helping to maintain the proper humidity to promote healthy plant growth. Gravel stays in place, so it doesn’t drift into other areas of the lawn or garden.
And TrueGrid permeable pavers are made of 100% recycled materials, so going green is a given. Add TrueGrid to garden paths and grass areas to eliminate mud, provide steady footing and keep wheelbarrows moving smoothly.
